The Story
In rural Ireland, the hazel is traditionally associated with wisdom and the poetic power of dreams, while the apple celebrates energy, vitality, and abundance. Listen carefully, and you might even hear an echo of WB Yeats's 'Song of Wandering Aengus' there. And now we are bringing these two mighty natural forces together under one roof.
The name speaks of simple things, unadorned things, pure things, warm welcomes, and generosity. And that seems like a very good combination indeed, wouldn't you say?
THE PROMISE
We call Hazel and Apple a 'Community Tavern.'
It is open to and welcoming to all, like a true Irish pub. There's no hierarchy, no special treatments, and everyone is the same when you step through our door. It's why we say there are no airs or graces here and just honest-to-goodness good times.
The Bar
Hazel and Apple comprises two separate bars; the front bar is The Hazel, and the back bar is The Apple. The Apple opens onto a beautiful outdoor patio space.
The Hazel offers an authentic Irish pub ambiance, serving excellent pub grub plus local Charleston and South Carolina specialties. We will, of course, have live music too. The Apple will retain some of The Hazel's pub vibe but with an added element of relaxed elegance. The Apple will also be our event and private party space.
Our design and décor are suitably simple yet timeless, featuring hazelwood, the green and red colors of the apple, and four apple trees on the patio area.
